Your privacy on Alamance POP
You can browse every event, place, and business without an account. We collect as little as we can, we never sell personal information, and sponsors only ever see totals.

Who we are
Alamance POP is an independent website published by Raven Ridge Media LLC in Alamance County, North Carolina. It is not affiliated with Alamance County Government or any town or public agency. Questions about this policy go to hello@alamancepop.com.
When you just browse
Google Analytics. On public pages we use Google Analytics to understand overall traffic: how many visits we get, which pages are popular, roughly where visitors come from (for example, a search engine or a link on social media), and what kind of device they use. Google sets its own cookies to do this. We've turned off Google's advertising features and Google signals, and Google says Google Analytics doesn't store IP addresses. We don't load it on sign-in, account, or form pages, and we don't load it at all if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. We keep Google Analytics data for 14 months.
Our own visit counts. To see which listings are useful, and to give sponsors honest numbers, the site keeps simple daily totals, for example "this business's page was viewed 12 times today and its Call button was tapped 3 times." These totals include page views, clicks on listings' outside links and phone numbers, how often a sponsored spot was actually on screen and clicked, and how often the planning tools (Build Your Guide and the Yard Sale Map) are used. They contain no names, email addresses, IP addresses, or anything that identifies you or your device.
Technical information. Like any website, our hosting provider handles standard technical details, such as your IP address and browser type, in order to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Things remembered on your device
- Your choices, like the categories you picked on the homepage, are saved in your browser so they're still there next time. They stay on your device.
- Sign-in cookies keep you signed in, if you have an account.
- Google Analytics cookies, described above.
When you share something with us
Some features ask for information, and we use it only for that purpose:
- Signing in: your email address, so we can send you a sign-in code.
- Submitting an event: the event details you enter are published after review. Your email address and any private notes are not published.
- Reports, Ideas & Feedback, business suggestions, place claims, and advertising inquiries: what you write, plus any name, phone number, or email you choose to give, so we can follow up. Feedback also notes the page you came from and your browser and device, to help us fix problems.
- Sharing a photo: your browser removes hidden details, like GPS location, before the photo is uploaded. If we feature it, we credit you by the name you give.
When you type a street address into a form, it's looked up with the U.S. Census Bureau's free address service to place it on our map. Yard sale addresses follow the privacy choice made when the sale was submitted.
Who helps us run the site
We use a few service providers for website hosting and our domain's DNS, our database and sign-in, email, traffic statistics (Google Analytics), map storage, and address lookup (the U.S. Census Bureau). They handle information only to provide their service to us.
We don't sell or rent personal information, we don't share it with sponsors or advertisers, and we don't use it for targeted advertising. Sponsors receive only totals, such as how many times their placement was seen and clicked. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Your choices
- You can block cookies or Google Analytics in your browser settings, or with Google's opt-out add-on ↗.
