Accessibility
Alamance POP is for everyone
We want everyone in Alamance County to be able to find what's happening, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, larger text, or voice control.
Our goal
Alamance POP aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, the widely used standard for accessible websites. That includes readable color contrast, text alternatives for images, a clear heading structure, labeled forms, visible keyboard focus, a "Skip to content" link, buttons large enough to tap, and sign-in codes that can be pasted or filled in automatically.
How we check
Every page, including our sign-in, submission, and moderation pages, is tested with automated accessibility checks against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA on both computer and phone screen sizes, along with hands-on checks using only a keyboard and with a screen reader. The site was last reviewed on October 13, 2026.
We don't use "accessibility overlay" widgets. Instead, accessibility is built into the site itself, so it works with the tools you already use.
Known limits
- Maps are visual. Everything on a map is also available as a list: events on the Events pages, places on the Places page, and yard sale stops on the Yard Sale Map's list.
- Pictures and flyers are shared by the community. When a flyer includes details that aren't in the event's written description, they may not be available to screen readers. Tell us, and we'll add them.
- Links to other websites, like ticket sellers and venues' own sites, are outside our control.
